Purpose The purpose of this contest is to help recognize, develop and promote special talents of rural young people in the community, county, and state.
The method of selecting a county Talent Find Winner is left up to each county. Counties may want to hold a county Talent Find to select the most suitable participant.
An official entry form will be furnished to each county Farmers Federation and must be submitted to the Alabama Farmers Federation.
A state Talent Find winner will be selected at the state annual meeting by a panel of judges. An alternate winner will also be selected.
Rules The participant(s) must be an Alabama Farmers Federation member or a member of an Alabama Farmers Federation family.
The participant(s) must be between the ages of 17 and 25 by December 1 in the year of the contest to win the Talent Find.
The number of participants in each act shall be limited to five.
All numbers must be limited to FOUR minutes. However, each participant should have more than one number prepared. The participant will be penalized if the act goes over the time limit.
All participants will compete during the state annual meeting.
Participants may be expected to appear at various general assembly sessions of the annual meeting.
All entertainment should come under one of the following classifications:
- Vocal (solos, quartets, etc.)
- Instrumental (piano, guitar, banjo, trumpet, etc.)
- Dance (toe, tap, ballet, etc.)
- Dramatic (stunts, skits, readings, etc.)
The county Young Farmers committee should screen their talent entry to determine if the act is in "good taste" and is appropriate for the Alabama Farmers Federation annual meeting.
Contestants will be judged on the following points:
- Presentation - 35 points (Presentation, ease & skill)
- Suitability - 30 points (Selection of material & type of entertainment)
- Audience Appeal - 35 points
- Total - 100 points
No Previous state winner of this contest is eligible to compete again. (Employees of the Alabama Farmers Federation, Alfa and affiliate companies, and their children are not eligible.) Professional entertainers are not eligible.
Awards and Opportunities Alabama Farmers Federation will give the following cash awards: Winner - $1,000; First Alternate - $500.
